Mumbai Mobile Creches works to provide migrant children on construction sites a safe, happy and healthy childhood

Mumbai Mobile Creches (MMC) a grassroots non-profit. MMC runs Day Care Centres (DCC) on construction sites and other underprivileged communities that deliver a comprehensive programme catering to educational, healthcare, and nutritional needs of children and most importantly, works to provide a sense of safety and security to children of migrant workers living on construction sites. We run a crèche for children under three, a preschool for children aged 3-6 years and an after-school support for the older children. MMC, on an average, reaches 1000 children every month.

MMC’s History:

In 1969, our founder, Ms. Meera Mahadevan, picked up and soothed a wailing baby at a construction site in New Delhi. Mobile Creches was born with that impulsive act. After taking root in Delhi, it branched out to Mumbai in 1972 and Pune in 1980 and has reached over half a million children.

In September 2006, Mumbai Mobile Creches registered as a separate entity. Mumbai Mobile Creches (MMC) reaches over 3500 children every year through its various models.

In the last five decades, MMC has worked on hundreds of construction sites and developed a model programme that can be replicated anywhere.

Our Vision: For all children to have a nurturing and happy childhood.
Our Mission: To promote 'child-friendly sites'; where every child living on a construction site is safe, healthy and educated, and able to enjoy their childhood.
